A typical video conferencing system is usually equipped with 1 or more video displays. The video displays can be either full HD LED/LCD/plasma displays or LCD projectors.
To optimize the usage of these displays for presentation during meetings without video conferencing, these displays are usually connected to VGA faceplates on the table for PC presentation.
All video conferencing room shall be equipped with a good microphone system for good audio pickup and a good sound system so that everyone in the room can hear the far end audio loud and clear, without the problem of echo disturbance.
Depending on the room size, the default video conferencing microphones can be used. Alternatively, external microphone systems can be integrated with the video conferencing systems.
Video and VGA matrix switcher may be required if the video conferencing room is equipped with many other audio-visual sources e.g. DVD, satellite TV etc. besides video conferencing system. By using the matrix switcher, users will be able to select any desire source and display this source on any display.
As the number of equipment increases in the room, operation and control of these equipment will be a challenging issue. Instead of using the handheld IR remote control unit of each individual system, an integrated control system will be handy. The integrated control system enables the users to control and operate all these AV peripherals from a wireless touch panel.
It is also quite common to have the video conferencing rooms equipped with touch screen display just outside the room to display the status of the meeting rooms i.e. occupied/vacant, duration of the meeting, when is the next meeting, the person who has reserved the room etc. to avoid any unnecessary disturbances during a meeting.
